Everything is easier with the right tools, but you shouldn't have to sell a kidney to get some. Harbor Freight is my favorite place to buy or order tools. I usually go to one in Irving, but check the store locator for the one nearest you http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/retail_stores.taf They are also some local tool stores on Harry Hines near northwest Highway that are as cheap or cheaper than Harbor freight. They have different tools not available or out of stock at Harbor freight in case you can't find it there.

A general rule for tool buying is buy high quality when the tool is fine, small or imporatant like a gauge, screwdriver, torque wrench or breaker bar. I went through 3 breaker bars from Autozone when I was trying to take off an axle nut until I picked up KD from O'Riely's that has held up for 5 years. I had a 4 foot cheater bar (pipe) that I placed over it for extra torque and it still held up. I now use it for lug nuts and I bet it will hold great for suspension, flywheels, and motor mounts.
Cheap wrenches, 12mm and over, ratchets, sockets all hold up pretty well if used correctly, don't shy away. They're are alway's exceptions and lot's of people get by with cheap stuff. Use common sense like keeping tools out of rain, and free of oil. Generic stuff is ok as long as your not doing heavy duty or commercial stuff.
